Henderson, Nevada –
The “Friends of Henderson CSI” is launching a Crime Lab Fundraising Project. The project has a bold and ambitious goal – to raise over $37 million in private donations to build a 77,000 square foot Forensic Science Center in Henderson, Nevada.
The funds are needed for the design and construction of the Center that will include a state-of-the-art Forensic Laboratory, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Section, and Evidence Vault. Additional funds raised will be used to add an Educational Research Institute to the Center.
There is only one forensic crime lab in Southern Nevada. That lab is managed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and does not have the capacity to analyze more than a small fraction of the evidence from other local Law Enforcement agencies. Additional forensic laboratory capability and capacity is critical in the Las Vegas Valley and Southern Nevada.
The City of Henderson does not have public funds for this facility, so other sources must be found quickly for this project to succeed in the rapidly growing community of 250,000 residents.
Rick Workman, Chairman of “Friends of Henderson CSI” said, “Although the facility will be located in Henderson, it will play a critical role in the overall safety and security of the entire Las Vegas Valley and Southern Nevada. When the facility is completed and fully operational we will solve more crimes, solve many crimes faster, prevent crime, and save lives.”
